The Adventure/Trekking/Educational Tour Management Cell of J.L.N. Government College, Haripur (Manali) is constituted to provide students with opportunities for experiential learning, adventure, exploration, educational exposure and interaction with the natural and cultural environment.
The Cell seeks to complement classroom learning through carefully planned educational tours, trekking and hiking activities, nature excursions, heritage visits, field-based learning and adventure activities. Being situated in the Himalayan region, the College recognizes the importance of connecting students with the rich natural, cultural and historical surroundings of Himachal Pradesh.
Objectives
The Cell aims to:
- Promote learning beyond the classroom through experiential and field-based activities.
- Encourage students to explore and understand nature, local communities, culture, heritage and biodiversity.
- Develop leadership, teamwork, discipline, communication and decision-making skills among students.
- Promote physical fitness, confidence, resilience and a spirit of adventure.

Major Activities
The Cell may organize and coordinate:
- Educational Tours : Visits to universities, research institutions, museums, libraries, historical monuments, cultural centres, government institutions and other places of academic relevance.
- Trekking and Hiking Activities : Short treks, hiking programmes and nature trails designed according to students’ abilities and prevailing safety conditions.
- Nature and Environmental Activities : Nature walks, biodiversity exploration, environmental awareness programmes and activities promoting conservation.
- Heritage and Cultural Visits : Visits to historical sites, temples, traditional settlements, museums and other places of cultural significance.
- Adventure Activities : Wherever feasible and appropriately supervised, students may be provided opportunities to participate in suitable adventure and outdoor activities.
- Field-Based Learning : Departments may collaborate with the Cell to organize field visits and educational excursions connected with their respective academic subjects.
- Responsible Tourism Awareness : Students may be sensitized about waste management, preservation of natural resources, respect for local culture and responsible conduct while travelling.
Responsibilities of the Cell
The Cell shall:
- Prepare proposals and tentative plans for educational tours, trekking and adventure activities.
- Coordinate with the Principal, concerned departments, teachers, students and external agencies, wherever required.
- Ensure that necessary institutional permissions are obtained before undertaking any activity.
- Prepare appropriate itineraries and schedules.
- Ensure proper student participation records and necessary documentation.
- Take appropriate measures relating to safety, supervision and discipline.
- Ensure that activities are planned according to weather, terrain, accessibility and other relevant conditions.
- Maintain records of tours, trekking programmes and other activities.
- Encourage students to follow environmental and safety guidelines.
- Prepare reports and maintain photographic/documentary records of activities.
- Collect feedback from participating students wherever appropriate.
Safety and Risk Management
Student safety shall remain an important consideration in all activities organized through the Cell. Before undertaking any trekking, tour or adventure activity, appropriate attention shall be given to:
- Weather and local conditions.
- Nature and difficulty level of the route/activity.
- Adequate teacher supervision.
- First-aid and emergency arrangements.
- Transportation and accommodation arrangements, wherever applicable.
- Emergency contact information.
- Appropriate clothing, footwear and equipment.
