Govt. College Haripur, Tehsil Manali, District Kullu, Himachal Pradesh was established in 2006 vide notification No. EDN-11(8)-49-79/2006 of Himachal Pradesh Government Department of Higher Education to cater for the higher educational needs of the students of Upper Kullu Valley locally known as ‘Ujhi’Valley. On 20th October 2013, the college was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister, Sh. Virbhadra Singh and was named ‘Jawahar Lal Nehru’ Govt. College Haripur (Manali). This college is one of the most beautiful colleges in Himachal Pradesh.
It is nestled in the heart of ‘Barshai’ Kothi, on the left bank of river ‘Arjikiya’, widely known as the Beas. The pristine natural setting of this college creates a perfect ambience for teaching and learning. Ardent students, committed faculty members, supporting staff and encouraging public support make it a most sought-after institution. This college has proved a boon, especially for girl students. Since its inception, the college has scaled many peaks in academic, cultural and sports domains. At present college is running all three major streams Humanities, Science and Commerce.
From session 2017-18 onwards the semester system is scrapped and an annual system based on CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) has been introduced and we are running into the second year of this system. The old Semester-based system will have only the 5th and 6th semesters which will be phased out from next year onwards and the complete Annual System will apply to all streams.
