The Eco Club at JLN Government College, Haripur, Manali, is a vibrant student organization dedicated to promoting
environmental awareness and sustainability among the college community. Established with the vision of fostering a
greener future, the club engages students in various activities aimed at conserving natural resources and protecting the
environment.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
- To create awareness amongst the students and society on current environmental issues.
- To motivate the students to keep their surroundings clean and green.
- To instill a sense of responsibility in the students for the natural environment and a personal commitment to protect and preserve it for the future generations.
- To work for the maintenance of green cover in and around Shimla through annual plantation drives.
- To create awareness on biodiversity, natural resources and their conservation.
- To create awareness about the harmful effects of plastics on our environment and to sensitize the students to
segregate the plastic waste from other biodegradable waste.
- To create awareness on climate change and human survival.
- To motivate the students to conserve water through minimal use.
- To motivate the students to adopt a lifestyle with minimum waste generation.
Activities
The Eco Club organizes a range of activities throughout the academic year, such as:
- Tree Plantation Drives: Planting trees in and around the college campus to enhance green cover.
- Cleanliness Drives: Regular cleaning of the college premises and surrounding areas to maintain hygiene.
- Recycling Programs: Setting up recycling bins and promoting the segregation of waste.
- Workshops and Seminars: Hosting sessions on topics like climate change, biodiversity, and sustainable living.
- Nature Walks and Field Trips: Organizing trips to nearby forests and natural reserves to educate students about local flora and fauna.
